Making OMEGA

We are planning to publish a detailed write up of the entire production process very soon. Make sure to check this site for updates. If you want to know more about upcoming festival screenings check out our page on facebook.

The world of OMEGA has been crafted by an ambitious group of students at the University of Arts and Design in Karlsruhe, Germany. Production took place from early scriptwriting and storyboards in 2008 until final completion in spring 2012. Over 20 individual stop motion puppets were designed and built from a huge variety of materials.

The scenery was animated and filmed in front of green-, blue- and red-screens in order to allow compositing in vast landscapes.

OMEGA demanded intimate cooperation between digital and traditional artists with a variety of exotic backgrounds: new media artists, set designers, product designers, and students from other far-fetched departments of the University powered the project.

We would like to thank the professors and staff members of the Karlsruhe University of Arts and Design for their generous support, as well as the Blender Institute in Amsterdam and all the people who helped us make this film as terrific as possible.
